The Autumn Equinox marks a brief turning point when the sun crosses the celestial equator and light and darkness come into near balance.
Perhaps the invitation of this day is not to create perfect balance in our lives, but to take an honest measure of what this season has grown within us.
The earth does not carry everything forward.
Some things become nourishment.
Some fall away and return to the soil.
Some are quietly held as seeds for another season.
We are allowed to do the same.
As autumn arrives, you might create a small Equinox Altar with three simple objects:
🪨 A stone for what has steadied you
Hold it in your hand and remember the people, practices, and inner strengths that helped you remain rooted.
🍁 A fallen leaf for what has completed its season
Write down something you are ready to stop carrying. Place the paper beneath the leaf and thank it for what it taught you.
🌰 A seed or acorn for what you wish to protect and tend
Name one hope, dream, or part of yourself you are willing to shelter while it gathers strength.
At dusk, light a candle and sit for a few quiet breaths. As the daylight fades, ask yourself:
What has ripened within me?
What am I ready to return to the earth?
What small, precious thing will I carry into the coming season?
Then place your hands over your heart and say:
I honor what has grown.
I bless what has ended.
I will tend what is still becoming.
May this Equinox remind you that balance is not a place we finally reach. It is the loving conversation we continue to have with our lives—between effort and rest, holding and opening, light and shadow.
Wishing you a beautiful passage into autumn.
With love and light,
Clarissa
